Dangers of Driving Under the Influence

There are a lot of dangers of driving under the influence. The more drinks a driver has had the more likely it is that they will get into an accident. Even though the laws have gotten stricter for this offense people still continue to get behind the wheel of a car after they have been drinking. About half of the automobile accidents that occur each year have been caused by people who decided to drive while intoxicated.

Drivers who have had even just a couple of drinks are more likely to get into a fatal car crash than a driver who has not had any. When people decide to make this choice they have to realize that they are making a very deadly and dangerous choice. When getting behind the wheel drunk a ton of dangerous situations can occur. Someone may be killed or the driver may even kill themselves.

When someone is drunk it can make it dangerous for them to drive because they may not be able to fully pay attention to the road. In some cases, depending on how much they have had to drink, they may even fall asleep behind the wheel. Not to mention if a person is to get caught driving under the influence that will lead them into a heap of legal troubles.

Driving under the influence does not always have to mean someone has been drinking however. It can also mean that a person has been using some illegal drugs. If someone gets caught with either the drugs or the drinks on them they could face getting their license suspended or even going to jail immediately.

Usually when someone is intoxicated they do not feel that they are impaired. They think that just because it was just a few drinks they can manage to drive. This makes the situation even more dangerous. This is because they are not realizing that even one drink slows down how they will react. It also affects the judgment as well.

It is even more dangerous to drive under the influence one you have been charged with it before. This is because the more times you are charged with a DUI the more severe the consequences will be when you get caught again. Not only will you have to take time off from work to attend court but if you are sentenced to jail time it is likely that when you are released you will no longer have a job waiting for you.

It is so much that a person could lose behind one stupid mistake. Drunk driving can ruin a whole life not to mention others. In the end a careless mistake can turn their whole world upside down.

Think about it. If this was not dangerous why would the penalties behind it be so harsh? Why are there programs around to educate people about the dangers? Even though it may not seem very serious and dangerous at the time a person is committing this crime, it is.
